Ghanaians, according to multi-award-winning artist, composer, and songwriter Knii Lante, are prejudiced towards the afrobeats genre.
The well-known singer claimed that rather than focusing on reggae, dancehall, and other genres, most industry professionals prefer to concentrate on feeding the public with Afrobeat music.
“…..It depends on how much you are fed. I think there is a bias towards Afrobeat and some other genres and reggae has been relegated”, he said.

Knii Lante also discussed the contribution his reggae music has brought to the nation. He claims that the waves his songs make have led to him receiving a few nominations this year.
“We’ve dropped about three Reggae songs, Good Self, Something Bad, and now Bestie.

“I think it’s creating a wave because we’ve got some award nominations. We were nominated for 3Music’s Best Reggae Artist of the Year and we’ve also been nominated for the Ghana Naija Music Awards Best Reggae Act and Best Reggae Song category,” he told 3FM.
