Akuapem Poloo, after her 90-day prison sentence on Friday, April 16, 2021, has still not yet been put in prison to start serving her jail term.
There are two reasons why Akuapem Poloo is being kept in police custody for other processes to go through before she is finally sent to prison to serve her term.
Reason Number 1
Akuapem Poloo has not been sent to prison yet because she has to undergo a COVID-19 test before she could be allowed to join other inmates.
The COVID-19 test per our checks was taken a day after she was sentenced and the outcome is still not known.
Until the outcome of the COVID test is known, Akauapem Poloo will not be put in prison. If it turns out that she tested positive for COVID, then she will have to be treated and discharged before she starts serving her jail term.
Reason Number 2
Akuapem Poloo’s lawyers have filed an appeal asking the court to look into the 90-day prison sentence because they describe it as “too harsh.”
The legal team filed the appeal on Monday, April 19, 2021, and a subsequent bail application to keep Akuapem Poloo out of prison while the appeal is being heard and determined.
This means until the appeal case is determined, Akuapem Poloo will continue to stay out of prison. It is also possible that the court may grant the appeal and Akuapem Poloo may have to serve a short jail term or be asked to go home free after some terms and conditions have been met.
Where Is Akuapem Poloo Now?
So, in a nutshell, Akuapem Poloo, is not in prison yet. Other processes need to go through before she will start to serve her prison term or be allowed to go home free. Meanwhile, Akauepm Poloo is still in the custody of the police.
