Today July 21st marks the birthday of the late President of Ghana, Professor John Evans Atta Mills.

John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills was a politician and legal scholar who served as President of Ghana from 2009 until his death in 2012.

He was inaugurated on 7 January 2009, having defeated the governing party candidate Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2008 election.

He died on the 24th of July 2012. His shook the core of the nation because it was sudden and unexpected. Thousands of people from all walks of life thronged the Independence Square to bid their final goodbye to the former president.

As Ghanaians are trying to reminisce about the fond memories they have about late president, aced journalist, Manasseh Azure used a sentence to describe him.

According to Manasseh, Professor John Atta Mills came to serve Ghanaians. Manasseh added that unlike some people, the former President of Ghana was not a thief!

He simply wrote on Facebook; “He came to serve. He wasn’t a thief”.

The statement above sparked a lot of controversy on social media. While some agreed with him, others felt he was exaggerating.
